To Beg For Or To Be The Revival?

I hear so many people continually say we need to pray for a revival in our nation. That we need an out pouring of the Holy Spirit to get us back on track. I agree this country is in a great decline and we do need a revival of sorts. But what exactly is this outpouring of the Holy Spirit and is begging God to give it to us the way to get it.

"It will come about after this that I will pour out My Spirit on all mankind; And your sons and daughters will prophesy, Your old men will dream dreams, Your young men will see visions. “Even on the male and female servants I will pour out My Spirit in those days. Joel 2:28-29

Are we required to pray for the recovery of our Nation? Is it something that God has asked us to do? Is it even in the scope of what god has in His plan?

I believe that God does want us to stand firm as a Godly Nation. However, I do not believe that God will give in to our begging and pleading. I say this because, God has already given us the out pouring of the Holy Spirit and has put the authority for revival in the hands of us believers. God is not going to do for us what he has already given us the power and authority to do.

When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly there came from heaven a noise like a violent rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. And there appeared to them tongues as of fire distributing themselves, and they rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit was giving them utterance. Acts 2:1-4

The outpouring of the Spirit is not going to come falling out of the ski on every individual in America and give them all a great big change of heart and so granting this revival  that we keep begging God for. The out pouring of the Holy Spirit has already happened. It happened on the Day of Pentecost.

So how do we bring about revival? I am glad you asked… We need to bring it about through the manifestation of the Holy Spirit. And the Holy Spirit and revival only happens when we speak out boldly and preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. When the day of Pentecost came God poured out the Holy Spirit and with His spirit He gave us the authority and power to bring about revival. As we speak out boldly proclaiming the truth of the Gospel the Holy Spirit will fall upon those that will receive, and there will be revival. Yes, we believers have this authority.

"And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them just as He did upon us at the beginning.“ And I remembered the word of the Lord, how He used to say, 'John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.' Acts 11:15-16

While Peter was still speaking these words (the gospel), the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who were listening to the message. All the circumcised believers who came with Peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also. Acts 19:44-45

We do have authority in the name of Christ through the Holy Spirit over demons, to heal the sick, and even to forgive sins. The problem is we either don’t believe we do have it or we are so caught up in self-consciousness that we fear if we try to command that authority, and if it doesn’t work, we will make great big fools out of ourselves and lose all credibility. This is all un-belief.

"Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father. John 14:12

Instead of begging and pleading with God to send down this great revival we should pray for one another, that we should speak the Gospel with boldness and confidence and that through us, His mighty Hand will reach down and heal those that are afflicted, and that through us signs and wonders will take place. Not only that we speak with boldness and confidence but that the Holy spirit give us the utterance, that we have the truth of the Gospel in our mouths so that we can proclaim it boldly and in doing so, we become the revival.

Grant that Your bond- servants may speak Your word with all confidence, while You extend Your hand to heal, and signs and wonders take place through the name of Your holy servant Jesus." Acts 4:29-30

Pray on my behalf, that utterance may be given to me in the opening of my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in proclaiming it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak. Ephesians 6:19

Just think how the out pouring of the Holy Spirit on the Decuples in the upper room cause them to speak boldly with the utterance of understanding for all to hear no matter what language they spoke. Three Thousand were saved. Understand the Holy Spirit didn’t land on all of men that had come from far and wide giving them revival all at once. The Holy Spirit landed on the believers and they went out speaking boldly.
If one room full of believers, through the power of the Holy Spirit, can reach three thousand men in one night, think about this. If we, all of us who truly believe in Jesus Christ and the truth of the Gospel, stood up and boldly proclaimed through the power of the Holy Spirit, by the authority that is already given to us, the truth of the finished work of Jesus Christ, the gospel, think of the revival and transformation we would see to this Nation.

As for me I pray, that the Holy Spirit grant that you may speak the word of the Gospel with all confidence and boldness and that He extend His hand to heal, and give signs and wonders through you and that utterance may be given to you in the opening of your mouth so you will to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel. In Jesus name, Amen.

Be the revival.
