He Will Raise Us Up On the Third Day

I want to point out that the mention of days are very important in the bible, prophetically speaking. Look at a very significant prophecy in the book of Hosea.

“Come, let us return to the Lord. For He has torn us, but He will heal us; He has wounded us, but He will bandage us. "He will revive us after two days; He will raise us up on the third day, that we may live before Him. Hosea 6:1-2

There are many references to days. Especially two days, three days and six days in the bible. That said, there is no small detail in God’s word. Everything written is inspired by God for His purpose. I want to show you a meaning of days and why it is so important to understand.

But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day.  The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance. 2 Peter 3: 8-9

Peter is relaying a fact to us believers that he wants to make sure we see. We need to know and believe, first that Christ is not slow, in comparison to how we think, in returning for us his bride. Because one day to Him is like a thousand days. Now some scholars and theologians say this verse is not literal and that it represents that Christ is outside of time. Although, it is true that God is outside of time as we know it, it is important to consider the significant of the use of days in scripture prophesy, especially in this verse.

Here is an example of an illustration of days;

Six days later Jesus took with Him Peter and James and John his brother, and led them up on a high mountain by themselves. And He was transfigured before them; and His face shone like the sun, and His garments became as white as light. And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him. Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You wish, I will make three tabernacles here, one for You, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” While he was still speaking, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and behold, a voice out of the cloud said, “This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well-pleased; listen to Him!” When the disciples heard this, they fell face down to the ground and were terrified. And Jesus came to them and touched them and said, “Get up, and do not be afraid.” And lifting up their eyes, they saw no one except Jesus Himself alone. Matthew 17:1-8

There were 4000 years before Jesus was crucified. Now this year is 2015. So that means just a little over 2000 years have gone by since Jesus was crucified. Look at the first three words of the verse. “Six days later”. This is prophetically significant because of what God spoke after peter asked if they should build a tabernacle for Moses and Elijah. God said… This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well-pleased; listen to Him. Understand this.  Moses represented the Law and Elijah represented the Prophets. So 6 days (6000) years later we are to listen to Christ, not the Law or the prophets.

Now as we know Christ was crucified and was raised up on the third day. He had predicted this kind of death in the book of John.

Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? But he spake of the temple of his body. When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said. John 2:19-21

In this case, It was three literately days because Christ was not yet crucified and had not risen he was in fact inside of time.

Now who is the temple of God? Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? 1 Corinthians 3:16

We know that now Christ is seated at the right hand of the Father and is outside of time as we know it.

So, this is where the prophesy Hosah 6:2-3 starts to unfold. This prophesy speaks of He, Christ reviving us in two days. It has been just over 2000 years since Christ was crucified and resurrected. Knowing that a thousand years is like one day to the Lord, in the year 2000 two days have been fulfilled.  Think about this  in the past 15 years there has been a great revival of the Gospel of grace, the first part of Hosah’s prophesy has been fulfilled. Christ’s bride, all of us true believers are being revived.

The third day…

There is still more of this prophesy to come. The third day. The truth is that Christ died right around 33 AD. It is 2015 so I would say we are now right at the beginning of the third day. Hosah prophesies that we will be raised up on the third day. So we are very close to the rapture, give or take a thousand years. However, in understanding scripture in the light of prophesy, I think we are much closer then that.

We know that Christ died and rose again on the third day. But was it three full days? It was in three days. During that time frame.

Consider what happened when Christ was resurrected.

Now after the Sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to look at the grave. And behold, a severe earthquake had occurred, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled away the stone and sat upon it. Matthew 28:1-2

But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they came to the tomb bringing the spices which they had prepared. And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. Luke 24:1-3

On the third day, the first day of the week early in the morning they came to the tomb and Jesus’ body was raised up. Now who is Jesus’ Body? Now you are Christ's body, and individually members of it. (1 Corinthians 12:27)

So when we look at and compare the time frame of the resurrection we know that we to will be raised up early on the third day. If we consider that these women came early at dawn and Christ body was already risen, we to will be risen before the dawn on the third day. This means we are very close.

If you need more prophetic understanding about the numbers 2, 3, and 6 let’s look at the very first miracle that Jesus did. Most of us know that Jesus turned water into wine. But the prophetic significant is far greater than the miracle. John 2:1 starts out On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there; and both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding…

Now I need to point out one thing before we go on. In the book of Revelation the Church, Christ’s bride is not mentioned again after the 3rd chapter until the 19th chapter.

This is the wedding on the third day in Haven.

In Revelation 17 verse one John is called up to haven. This is the calling up, when the church is risen up, the rapture. Then the third day just before dawn, on that heavenly third day is the marriage of the lamb.

“Let us rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His bride has made herself ready.” It was given to her to clothe herself in fine linen, bright and clean; for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.

Then he said to me, “Write, ‘Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.’” And he said to me, “These are true words of God.” Then I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “Do not do that; I am a fellow servant of yours and your brethren who hold the testimony of Jesus; worship God. For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” Revelation 19:7-9

Just as Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding in Cana of Galilee on the third day, so are we His bride going to be risen up that we may know Him…

"So let us know, let us press on to know the Lord. His going forth is as certain as the dawn; And He will come to us like the rain, like the spring rain watering the earth.” Hosah 6:3
